I just moved to the neighborhood, and I knew I had been slacking on my eye care, so I made an appointment. James answered the phone, and he was excellent. Very personable and a great communicator. He quickly verified my insurance plan was in network, and he was able to get me in within 24 hours, which was fantastic! On the day of my appointment, I drove over and met the rest of the team, Sarah and Dr. Sabahi. Everyone on this team was so friendly, and the whole experience made me feel like the sole focus of attention, which is a rare feeling in 2026. Dr. Sabahi breezed through the assessment, confirmed some expected changes in vision, and had me sync back with James to pick out a pair of glasses. James had me feeling like a Kingsman with all the different options, suggestions, and compliments on what would look nice on my face. After some deliberation, I selected my frames, paid for the exam and glasses, and now I'm just waiting to hear when they're ready. Overall, this was an exceptional experience thanks to some exceptional people that care about what they do. Thank you to the whole team! You are all tremendous!

Dr. Sabahi and the team at Modern Eye Care of Portland are at the top of the eye care game. Yes, they have top tier frames and the styles they have are amazing. But I think what really sets this practice apart is the patient experience. Dr. Sabahi and her team made me feel empowered and I learned so much about eye care. I've been suffering with extreme dry eye and Dr. Sabahi provided a solution that has given me great relief as well as educated me along the way during my eye exam. The experience of choosing and getting fitted for my glasses and adjustments was such an educational experience. James the optician did an amazing job of helping me understand what I should expect during the adjustment period, and helping to calm my nerves about my new glasses. And when I needed some tweaks he knew exactly what to do to help ensure my progressives were sitting on the proper place on my face. I had no idea that all of these seemingly minor tweaks could make such a difference in how my frames feel, but it has made all the difference! Thank you to the entire team at Modern Eye Care of Portland, Dr. Sabahi, James and Sarah all made the entire experience wonderful from start to finish.

An entirely bespoke experience. From my exam where the doctor explained exactly why I'd been having vision problems for years, I felt instant trust. She said "I care about everything" and that has been so clear! I have felt really cared for here, the 5 star reviews don't lie. I decided to get my glasses at Modern Eye Care too, when usually I'd go the cheapskate route (and while valid, that has its limitations for which my eyesight problems are daily proof of!). James worked tirelessly and enthusiastically to help me find just the right frame for my face. I can't wait to actually pick them up~ they are custom built even down to the fit of the lenses. This is individualized, trauma/informed care at its finest (and they don't even know they're doing the trauma informed part, it's just natural to their care delivery). I'd send anyone I love here!

She was generous with her time, answering all questions I had before turning me over to James to explore frame and lens choices. He was equally terrific, and helped me select frames and lenses that are the best I've had in 30 years. The frames look great, and the very specifically crafted lenses have restored a quality of vision that, at age 71, I thought I would never have again. Dr Sabahi is amazing! When I say she saved my vision, I literally mean, I was about to go blind from a side effect caused by a cancer treatment. She saw the severity, immediately got on the phone with the oncologist, and worked together with the cancer team to stop, and reverse the progressing damage caused by the intense cancer drugs. Everyone here went way above and beyond to help me out. Sarah worked hard to fit me in to the doctor's schedule and was easy to talk to while getting my eye exam on the books. She even called to check on me when I ran behind after getting off work later than expected. Her exceptional customer service is rare to find in healthcare. Dr. Sabahi was awesome. She is super funny and relaxed, so if you have any eye-doctor-anxiety, you'll be happy to be her patient because she'll put you at ease. She also has all the high-tech gear and was so knowledgeable that she had me in the perfect pair of contacts within five minutes. Super comfortable to wear. When I put them on, I was immediately able to see better than I am able to see out of my glasses. Which means I'll have to circle back around to talk to James about a new pair of glasses. But the kicker is that they all stayed late to see me. I'll definitely go back next year for my yearly exam, have for sure found my preferred practice. If you need an eye exam or are worried about your eye health, go here! I'm glad I did.
